November is a great month. You have leaf raking duty, which
includes of course making a very large pile of leaves and jumping in it. Yes, I know that
means you have to re-rake them but it is so much fun it is more than worth the extra work.
Part of the joy of jumping in leaf piles is a reminder of childhood fun and knowing that
you can still do it! I believe that far too often we think that we cannot do
something because we are too old, not talented enough, not strong enough, not flexible
enough, not smart enough, too short, too tall, don't weigh enough, or weigh too much. My
response is Phooey? We are far more capable than we give ourselves credit for because we
do not do anything alone. As I don't know what it will be that we will each be called to do.
But I do know that with God we can do it. It may take longer than we expect, there may be
detours, and it may have a totally different end point than we expected, but the only way
we will find out is if we try. I have a challenge for all of us as we are raking leaves and
hopefully jumping into leaf piles or having a leaf fight, to think about what is God
calling you to do to make a difference. To pray about how we can individually and as a
church be a beacon of hope and light to this community. Blessings, Rev. Carolyn M. Berry |
