Fellowship Groups at Portage Faith United Methodist Church
Ladies volunteer to prepare a delicious breakfast the 4th Sunday of the month at 7:30 am in the Blue Room. We have our business meeting and usually a small program or discussion. We plan and attend an annual weekend winter retreat the last weekend of January at the local United Methodist church camp-Camp Asbury. This is a very inspirational time of quiet reflection, good Christian Fellowship and excellent food! In the fall we hold a holiday Bazaar in the Fellowship Hall where we sell our delicious homemade soup and noodles. Many of our ladies work hard all year to prepare the wonderful crafts available. We also sponsor an Advent Celebration/Cookie Walk the 1st Saturday of Advent. A wonderful speaker is chosen to provide a worship service in the sanctuary, after which one may go to the Fellowship Hall to walk through and purchase delectable goodies and cookies--all baked and donated by church members. Outside of these special events, we are also involved in bake sales, sub sandwich sales, assisting with funeral dinners, providing a UMW worship service, and many other enjoyable events. Our UMW is divided into two Circles: Hope Circle and Mary Martha Circle. Both circles hold monthly meetings.
Hope Circle Consists of the "Middle-age" women of the Church and meets on the fourth Thursday of every month at 7:30 p.m. in a member's home. They enjoy great fellowship and friendship within the group and are involved in service projects, craft projects, and enjoy special programs. They also have a "Secret Sister" program within the group, and welcome new members.
Mary Martha Circle This group was established as a circle for the younger mothers and women of the Church. The fellowship of the group is based on support for each other and service for others. They help with church dinners, put on programs, have picnics and have monthly mission projects, as well as enjoying a variety of other activities. Meetings are the fourth Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. and are lively! Child care is provided for mothers who have no way to come without their children.
The Portage Faith United Methodist Men is a support group for the men in the Church. It is a very active group believing in food, fun and fellowship. Meetings are held monthly on the second Sunday at 7:30 a.m. for a breakfast/business meeting. They also assists in keeping the Church maintenance costs down by having monthly work days on the Saturday following their breakfast from 9 to noon. Come join us. Membership is open to all men and boys of Portage Faith United Methodist Church.
