Fellowship Meal
Wednesday nights at Pleasant View UMC begin with a Fellowship Meal at 6:00 PM. The goal is to allow participants to come for informal fellowship once a week without having to cook. This also makes it convenient for people to participate in Bible Study and Kids Klub if the choose to do so, but there is no obligation - our primary goal is to encourage fellowship! The cost is only $4 for adults and $2 for children with a $10 cap for an entire family.
Bible Study
After the Fellowship Meal, the evening continues at 6:45 PM with Bible study for adults led by the pastor, and Kids Klub and UMYF for the younger participants. The Bible study encourages discussion as well as close examination of the scriptures. Some of our previous studies have included topics such as:
| The parables of Jesus | |
| Jesus' teachings on prayer | |
| Paul's letters | |
| Book studies on Genesis, Exodus, and Revelation | |
| Seasonal Advent and Lenten studies | |
| What's So Amazing about Grace? |
Here is a description of our current topic: "In the beginning was the Word..." - Gospel of John
"In the beginning was the Word. The Word was with God and the Word was God ... and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory ... full of grace and truth." Thus begins John's account of the Good News of Jesus Christ. John's Gospel is the most unique of the four accounts, and it also can be the most difficult to understand. Join us this fall as we journey through The Gospel of Jesus Christ According to John.
Kids Klub
The purpose of Kids Klub is to provide a foundation of Biblical knowledge in a fun environment, using crafts, songs, stories, and games. Kids Klub provides fun and worthwhile activities for children of preschool age to 6th grade to participate in while parents attend Bible study.
This fall we will be studying three major topics
| God's People in Egypt | |
| How God's People Stand Apart | |
| The Followers of Jesus in Foreign Lands |
We hope your children will share with us in an information and fun-filled hour that strengthens their relationship with Christ!
United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF)
We now have our own website! Check it out:
UMYF youth website: http://www.freewebs.com/pvumcyouth/
We would like to invite anyone who is in the 6th-12th grade to come and join our UMYF on Wednesday Nights after dinner at 6:45. 6-8th grade is located in the Sunday school wing last door on your right. 9th—12th grade is located downstairs directly to your right.

Pleasant View United Methodist Church has two groups: for youth 6th-8th grade, and youth 9th-12th grade. These groups are open to all and free. We meet in the UMYF room in the basement of the church.
We have a new focus which addresses issues our youth face on a daily basis. We hope to strengthen their relationship with Christ by using curriculum that includes media clips, and games. Another fun activity is "Destination Unknown Trips" to different destinations centered around the evening's Bible lesson.

In addition to the weekly Wednesday night meetings, UMYF members enjoy fellowship with each other on recreational outings such as camping, bowling, rappelling, and rafting. They also have an annual Youth Retreat at locations such as Lake Shore Retreat Center, Cedar Crest Camp, and Gatlinburg. To cover their expenses the group holds fundraisers such as bake sales and a Valentines Dinner. This allows everyone to participate in the trips without having to worry about the cost.
UMYF members have carried out a number of service projects, including building a porch for an elderly member of the community, building a handicapped ramp, sending letters to servicemen and cards to shut-ins, and sponsoring "Christmas Angels". They also have attended a teen youth rally (Acquire the Fire).
