Adopt a family for Thanksgiving
The Missions Committee would like to assist and encourage the church body to
adopt 10 families for Thanksgiving Dinner. We are asking for financial support
in buying 10 Angel Food Thanksgiving boxes for these families. The Missions
committee members will either de-liver or assist local public officials in
distributing the boxes for this family holiday. Please see the poster in the
narthex for progress with this church wide mission project!
Italian Dinner sponsored by UMYF
Nov. 29th @ Noon $10 per person and $2 for Kids! Vegetable, Seafood and Meat
lasagnas, salad, garlic bread, and homemade desserts. Come fellowship over a
great homemade meal and support the youth of our church as well. If you can’t
stick around, we welcome to go orders.
Worship leaders needed
I am
looking for people who are willing to participate in our Sunday worship services
either in leading a children’s sermon or serving as
liturgist/scripture reader. If you are willing or feel led to serve in
either of these ways, please contact Amy Herrin.
Donations of Coats/Sweaters needed!
During the month of November, the UMW are asking for donations of "gently used" coats/sweaters for Community
Care Fellowship, a ministry of The United Methodist Church. They are also
collecting reading glasses. CCF provides the
homeless and nearly homeless a safe place during the day, and gives them the
necessary things we take for granted...shoes, clothing, showers, laundry
facilities, as well as food and friendship. UMW will be collecting the pants in a
box located in the foyer through the month of November. During a church service
at the end of the month, we'll be praying that these clothes will help
someone in need. Thank you
for your support of our mission projects.

Free Blood Pressure Screening
On the second Sunday of
every month there will be a free screening from 9:30 to
10:45 AM (during Sunday School time). (Due to a conflict, in October only
the screening will be on the first Sunday, Oct. 4). For more information or to schedule
a time, contact Karen Brady. You are also welcome to ask Karen health
questions.
FUEL Program
What is the FUEL program?
Our Fuel Program is ready to kick off for the 2009-2010 school year. We need
your support. If you feel led to feel a child for the entire year the cost is
$150. We also welcome any monetary or food donations (Pop Tarts, Juice Boxes,
Tuna Pouches, and Apple Sauce Cups). If you would like more information please
contact Daina Hunter at 746-3432. The first bagging will be held on August 4 @
6:00pm. We could use your help preparing the bags.
Prayer Shawl Ministry meets on Saturday from 9 to noon in the Sunday School wing. Come learn to knit, crochet or to refresh your talent, or to quilt or just to give moral support. Yarn can be furnished if you notify Bonnie in advance. Our little group is growing and we encourage those interested to come join the group. Some folks like to create in the privacy of their home and that is fine...all prayer shawls are accepted, blessed, and given.
