There is a hymn in our hymnal that is entitled, Easter People, Raise Your Voices. It reminds us that every day to us is Easter. Here are the verses: Easter people, raise your voices, sounds of heaven in earth should ring. Christ has brought us heaven’s choices; heavenly music let it ring. Fear of death can no more stop us from our pressing here below. For our Lord empowered us to triumph over every foe. Every day to us is Easter, with its resurrection song. When in trouble move the faster to our God who rights the wrong. (Hymn No 304)
On Easter Sunday, we celebrate in grand style and the question then becomes, “What’s next?” What should we be doing in the days and weeks following Easter? The answer is that we should be about what we are called as Christians to do all the time and that is to live showing the world that the death and resurrection of Jesus makes a difference to us and to the world. Knowing that we have a personal savior is what makes us Christians. Through Jesus, we are able to glimpse a bit of God. We are not able to fully understand God, it is like Paul says, we are now looking in an imperfect mirror but someday all will be fully made known to us. Easter is one of the times that the curtains part and we get a glimpse of God and now in the season following Easter we want to let others get a glimpse of God as we live our Christian lives.
Through our participation in the work of this congregation of the body of Christ, we help the world to catch a glimpse of our creator and savior. What are you doing to help others catch a glimpse of our God?
