From the Pastor's desk . . .
If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have receive the knowledge
of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of
judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God." Hebrews
10:25-27
I don’t know if we are in the last days or not. Only God knows, but what a fearful thought, that we are in the last
days. How sad for those who at one time professed Christ, and now do not
serve him.
I feel sorry for those members of our church who either ignore their need
for congregational worship or those who take that need so lightly.
Our average attendance each Sunday is about 20. That means approximately 20 of our brothers and sisters in
Christ are absent each week. Some never come. Some rarely come. I feel sad for these people. Don’t they miss
coming together with their friends to worship God? Don’t they feel avoid in
their life? Don’t they miss the Christian fellowship?
The people who are absent so much also miss the inspirational music
presented each week by gifted and talented children, youth and adults, and put
together by a spirit-filled music director and dedicated accompanists. What a
blessing it is to hear them offer musical praises to God!
Congregational worship is so important. It is crucial! Many times it is the
glue that holds everything else together. Does yard work do that for you? Not
for me! Do athletic events do it? Does "sleeping-in" do it? Does going to the
pottery factory or the beach do it? There isn’t anything that compares to
congregational worship in God’s holy sanctuary. My longing is for everyone to
enjoy that blessing – every Sunday.
Jesus said, "If you love me, take up your cross and follow me." His example
for the Sabbath was to be in the place of worship. Do you love God through His
Son, Jesus? I hope you do. Your eternity depends upon it.
Hope to see you in the praise place next Sunday!
Blessings,
LEE
