Announcements
Anne and Glenn Mower’s 70th Wedding Anniversary celebration is this Sunday! Their family would like to invite members and friends of the Park Forest Congregation to a celebration following the service. Please join us in the Prism for refreshments and conversation. No gifts, please.
Proud Parents, Michael and Nicola Rusca, announce a new addition to their family: Libby Catherine Baird Ruska. We welcome her to our church family, as well.
Thank you "What a thoughtful and generous congregation you are! Thank you so much for the flowers, cards, gifts, and cake for Pastor Appreciation Day. And many thanks to those who organized this event." Pastor Lee Ellenberger.
Simply Soup will be Wednesday November 18th, a week earlier than usual because of the Thanksgiving holiday. Please consider bringing a dessert.
Date Change: The December Mosaic will be assembled on Tuesday, November 24th at 10:00 a.m. Misty needs a few volunteers to help collate, staple and label the newsletter for mailing. Please call the office to leave a message or send her an email at pfvumc@juno.com if you would like to help.
Muffins are needed for the Thanksgiving Love Feast on November 22. If you are willing to bring muffins the morning of the Love Feast, please sign up on the sheet on the bulletin board.
Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children worldwide through gift filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God’s love. You can participate by filling a shoe box with small toys and other gifts. The filled shoe boxes will be blessed by Pastor Lee on November 22 and delivered that same day to the distribution center. There will be empty shoe boxes and handouts available on the table in the Narthex. If you have questions, please contact Beth Evanko at 692-4233. The final day of collection is November 22.
The annual food collection for the Park Forest Day Nursery will be held Sunday, November 22. Items that are most needed include: canned soups (tomato, chicken noodle, chicken & rice), pasta (elbow, spaghetti, egg), pancake mix, apple sauce, canned fruit, canned vegetables, apple juice, spaghetti sauce, canned ravioli, pickles, boxed cereals (Rice Krispies, corn, rice, Wheat Chex, Cheerios, Corn Flakes), napkins and dish soap. The current economic situation is also having a negative effect on funding for Day Nursery’s daily operations, so your contributions are greatly needed and appreciated.
The Christmas Bazaar is quickly approaching, and although we have a great array of items, we can always use more. If you have any items that you would like to donate (no clothing, please) place them in the Cluster before Thanksgiving.
Bell Ringing for Interfaith Mission: Interfaith Mission will need volunteers to ring bells for an hour or two for their holiday Wishing Wells fund raising between November 27 and December 22. Please see the bulletin board for information and sign-up.
Altar Flowers... An avenue to memorialize, honor, or celebrate events is available to the congregation. The church has a brass vase for those who wish to have flowers placed on the altar in memory or recognition of someone, or to celebrate a special occurrence like a birthday, anniversary or achievement. Contact Janet Hinish at 238-0818 to pickup the liner for the florist to make an arrangement. A sign-up sheet is located on the bulletin board.
Care Notes…The Family Life Committee is sponsoring the Care Notes literature rack located in the Narthex. These booklets offer encouragement and healing. Feel free to pick up a booklet for yourself or to give to a friend.
