Advent and Christmas Worship Services

November 30, 1st Sunday of Advent/HOPE & Holy Communion. “The Last Lecture,” Isaiah 64:1-9 and Mark 13:24-36. Just before his death, Jesus delivers the lecture of a lifetime, reminding his followers of what really matters.

December 7, 2nd Sunday of Advent/LOVE. “The Day the Earth Stood Still,” Isaiah 40:1-11 and 2 Peter 3:8-15a. This week, 20th Century Fox is scheduled to release a remake of the 1951 science-fiction classic by the same title. We will look at God’s patience and the final judgment.

December 14, 3rd Sunday of Advent/JOY. Our children will present the authentic meaning of Christmas in their re-enactment of the Christmas story. Who will this Child grow up to become? The celebration of Jesus’ birthday continues afterward with cake downstairs in the Cluster.

December 21, 4th Sunday in Advent/PEACE. On this Sunday before Christmas our choir will involve the congregation with the reading of scripture lessons and the singing of carols. What a wonderful way to center our souls in the midst of the holiday that bears the name of Christ, ‘Christ’mas.

December 24, Christmas Eve Candlelight Service, 7:30 p.m. – REJOICE

December 28, 1st Sunday after Christmas – HOPE, LOVE, JOY, PEACE, REJOICE “What Makes Your Rock Move?” Isaiah 61:10-62:3 and Luke 2:22-40. There are unseen and undocumented forces moving rocks in the desert. But what is it that moves us?
