Jenny Smith, a student
at The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia, has begun serving
Penns Park United Methodist Church as part of her fieldwork experience.
Her service there will continue with Pastor Ginny Miles through
next May.
Jenny is a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Norristown where
she has sung in the choir, taught Sunday School and held leadership
positions on numerous committees. She
is a Christ Servant Minister in the Eastern Pennsylvania Annual
Conference. Jenny has also
been active in the local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity and is a member
of the Methodist Federation for Social Action.
Her education background
includes a bachelor’s degree in English & Psychology, a masters in
General Experimental Psychology, and she has done graduate work at both
the University of Missouri and Carnegie Mellon Graduate School of
Industrial Administration. Recently
retired from a career in the field of usability and human factors, she is
a part-time instructor at The Art Institute and Drexel University. |

Eric
lives in nearby Newtown PA with his wife, son and daughter. He is our Music/Choir
director and the churches Pianist/Organist. Eric is an accomplished
musician and performs professionally for local restaurants and banquet
halls. He also plays electronic synthesizers, guitar, and bass. Eric is a
baritone tenor and occasionally sings a vocal solo for our
services.
In
1971 Eric began playing trombone in a brass choir for a Lutheran Church in
East New York. Since then Eric has performed professionally with some of the
area’s well know dance and show bands. In 1991 Eric became a member of
the New Jersey Air National Guard and while in training school, Eric volunteered to play organ\piano for Catholic services St. Mary’s Chapel,
Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, TX. That same year, he was asked to
direct the Keesler Choral on Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS. More recently, Eric worked as an assistant music director for
St Andrews Youth Choir and he helped organize a Teen Music Ministry for Newtown United Methodist Church.
Eric currently teaches music at New
Hope Academy in Bucks County PA. |
