Adult singles are invited to attend the singles ministry activities at Warwick Memorial UMC at 38 Hoopes Rd. in Newport News. They have a Thursday Night Together (TNT) dinner and program for singles every Thursday night at 6:30 PM. Bring a potluck dish to share, plus $1 to cover the cost of beverages and paper products. Singles Friends in Christ sponsors a Monthly Friday Fling Dance on the last Friday of every month at the Catholic Church of Ascension Community Center, 4853 Princess Anne Road, in Virginia Beach. The dance is smoke free and alcohol free and free snacks are available. The cost is $8.00 for non-members or $6.00 if you are a member. Sodas are available for $1.00. Free dance lessons are given from 6:30 to 7:30 PM, and the dance lasts from 7:30 to 11:30. The dance is a Catholic/Methodist joint effort. There are usually 250-350 people there. Contra dances are fun for everyone! These lively dances are not just for singles, but have become a popular Saturday night activity for singles looking to enjoy fellowship and fun in a smoke free, alcohol setting. Dances are held the first Saturday of each month in Norge, the second Saturday in Newport News, and the third Saturday in Norfolk. Beginners are welcome; no partner required. Live music, generally Irish fiddle tunes or old-time music. The Newport News location is at South Morrison Elementary School, 746 Adams Drive. Cost is $7.
