Teens Faithful, Focused and On Fire--TF3
To Glory Be The
Glory, Great Things He Hath Done!!!
Teens Faithful, Focused and on Fire, better known as TF3, has been the first
Teen District United Methodist Women’s Unit chartered in Peninsula-Delaware
Conference, Wilmington Delaware.
August 28, 2001 was a special day for teens from five different churches within
the Wilmington District. This was a day of celebration. The celebration was the
result of young ladies who have made a decision to become members in the United
Methodist Women’s organization and pledge to uphold the PURPOSE as they grow
in mission, study and ministry for Christ. These young ladies are ranging from
ages 13- 18, busy with all of the things that teenagers do, but not too busy to
commit to helping others and to share their love.
Many community members gathered at the Neighborhood House, in Wilmington,
Delaware, where the chartering celebration was very inspiring. The sponsors,
Audrey Milton and Sandy Hawks, along with senior district and conference
officers, as well as, members of the Teens respective churches, participated in
the service. The Teen officers slate is an inclusive membership. Teen President,
Alexiz Black, very effectively led the girls in stating the PURPOSE of United
Methodist Women. She also has led them in attending their first Annual Fall
Conference Meeting in the Easton district. There Alexiz was able to introduce
Women’s Division’s Executive Secretary of Young Women, Cheryl Hemmerle, as
the quest speaker. The Teens also led those in attendance in singing, "
Jesus Loves Me."
The Teens live out their faith in many ways; most recently they participated in
the Annual Youth Rally in Ocean City, Maryland. Many of them are looking forward
to being in attendance at the 2002 Assembly of United Methodist Women in
Philadelphia, Pa.
Teens Faithful, Focused and on Fire are a new blossoming Unit. We are praying
that God will use them as he molds and fills their minds and their hearts with
his blessed gifts. They have opened their hearts, let us open ours, so that they
can be nurtured in love and positive feedback as they continue to grow.
Other Teens, College and University Young Women are encouraged and welcomed to
become members and to form circles or units of United Methodist Women throughout
the Peninsula-Delaware Conference area. Remember United Methodist Women are
looking for new opportunities to empower young women. For assistance and/or
information call your Conference President, your District President, the
District Membership Nurture Outreach Coordinators or the Local Unit President.
May God bless you as you continue to fulfill the Purpose of United Methodist
Women in mission and ministry.
