Mission Today
Unit

What is Mission Today?

Mission Today is a program whose purpose is to:

 Energize United Methodist Women to be more involved in mission through prayer, study and action;

 Increase contacts between units and mission personnel and mission projects so that United Methodist Women understand where their money goes;

 Encourage use of mission resources through United Methodist Women;

 Expand concepts of mission, including social justice as mission.

How does a unit in the Peninsula-Delaware Conference become a Mission Today Unit?

Units that complete or engage in mission endeavors, checking at least eight of the criteria items, (including four of the asterisk items), will receive a certificate of participation.

Units with 10 -14 of the criteria items checked, (including 8 of the asterisk items), will receive a Silver Star certificate.

Units completing all 15 criteria items will receive a Gold Star certificate.

A report form must be completed and sent to the District President by September 15. Awards will be given at the Conference Annual Fall Meeting. District Presidents will forward all report forms to the Education & Interpretation Coordinator, Verlie Gaither, by September 30, 2002.
