WORSHIP

Founded in 1818, Pearl Road United Methodist Church has a historic tradition of ministry and service. We are a warm, caring congregation committed to continuing our mission in the Old Brooklyn community and throughout the world. We enthusiastically invite you to worship with us every week. We welcome your involvement in our expanding programs of spiritual growth, fellowship, and outreach.

Sunday Worship Service

10:00 AM

On Sunday mornings, we unite for an hour of praise to God as we sing hymns, share prayer concerns, listen to an engaging sermon, and reflect on God’s Word. The first Sunday of each month features Holy Communion. Nursery care is provided. Special worship services are held to celebrate Ash Wednesday, Holy Week, Easter, and Christmas Eve.

Children’s Sunday School

10:00 AM

Children (K-6 grade) attend the first portion of the worship service with their family.

Fellowship Hour

11:00 AM, Fellowship Hall

Handicap Accessibility

Handicap parking is available near the elevette entrance. The sanctuary and many rooms are wheel chair and handicap accessible. Hearing assistance units are available.

MISSION & OUTREACH

We have a long-standing reputation of responding to the needs of our local community, the nation, and the world. In addition to a monthly Mission Moment during the worship service, we also provide several opportunities for members to be directly involved with mission programs.

IHS Meal & Devotion

Offered for needy persons and families every Thursday evening at 6:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall.

The Brookside Center

Provides education, supportive services, and hunger relief to needy persons and families who live in the neighborhood. We offer ongoing financial assistance and volunteer hours for this local social service ministry.

Mission Potluck & Program

Held in the Fall to increase our awareness of a United Methodist mission project which is supported by our prayers and generosity.

Additional Outreach

During the year, we support a number of local outreach agencies as well as United Methodist-related organizations through our connectional giving.

ADULT MINISTRY

Education

Christian education is a life-long process of spiritual growth. Our library has several helpful resources. We also provide opportunities for adult study and fellowship during the week and on Sunday mornings.

Fellowship

We fellowship together whenever we gather; however, there are some special fellowship opportunities and groups within the church, including Breakfast in the Park, Family Fun Night, Gym Activities, Friendly Couples, and Free Spirits.

United Methodist Women

In addition to regular meetings on the second Monday of the month, the women gather together in smaller, circle meetings. The UMW sponsors a semi-annual Rummage Sale. These proceeds, combined with their volunteer efforts, enable them to support various mission programs, including:

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY

Children are an integral part of our church family. We are committed to providing a safe, nurturing environment in which children may begin their spiritual journey as they learn about the Bible and the Christian faith. Our growing Sunday School program is augmented with an exciting offering of special programs, events, and traditions.

Nursery Care

Provided in our remodeled, Third Floor room. It is staffed weekly with parent volunteers.

Sunday School

Offered during the worship service for pre-school through older elementary children.

Sermonette

During the first portion of the worship service, the pastor leads a children’s moment which is enjoyed as much by the adults as it is by the children!

Vacation Bible School

Offered once a month during the summer on Saturday mornings. Children enjoy learning a Bible lesson, creating a craft project, and playing together.
