December 26 - Lisa was moved out of her bed for the first time today. She sat in an armchair for 5 1/2 hours. She moved her left arm several times when asked. Watched TV. Progress! December 25 - Lisa had her right eye resutured for the fourth time today. She is also moving her arms and legs and follows objects with her left eye. Watched TV for first time today. She is responding to different object in the room i.e. people, TV by following them with her eye. December 24 - Lisa left PICU for the second time and is back in her her own room (392) on the third floor. Her lungs are looking better, so the risk of pneumonia is diminishing. December 23 - Nothing major happened today. The doctors are monitoring her to make sure she doesn't get pneumonia. December 22 - Lisa had surgery today. The stomach wasn't emptying its food into the intestines. So the doctors drained two liters of tube feedings out and began feeding her through an IV again. The doctors are keeping her in Intensive Care to make sure that she doesn't develop pneumonia. December 21 -Today Lisa was moved out of the PICU and into her own room (392) on the third floor. She is moving her arms and legs a lot and her left eye is blinking normally. She had to have her right sutured again because she pulled it out. December 20 - Lisa had a minor surgery today to put in a feeding tube directing into her stomach. She previously had a tube going in through her mouth and down to her stomach. She was pretty sleepy from surgery the rest of the day. December 19 - No major changes today. She is continuing to be monitored. December 18 - The doctors began feeding Lisa through a tube in her mouth down into her stomach today. December 17 - Lisa was removed from the ventilator today and is breathing on her own! Her left eye is also blinking a lot. December 16 - The doctors took Lisa off the meds to keep Lisa unconscious. She moved her arms and legs slightly, but not to command. The doctors also resutered her right eye because she ripped it out. December 15 - Lisa was sleepy from the surgery. Her left pupil was responding to stimuli. She also showed some reflexes like gagging, coughing, and yawning. December 14 - Lisa had surgery on her face today. The doctors put the facial bones back together. They had to repair her upper jaw, the cheek bones, her nose and the outside of each eye socket. The bones in her fore-head were broken, but at this time they are leaving them alone. The doctors also put in a shunt into Lisa's head to drain off the access fluids that build up. They put a breathing tube into the trachea, so that the respirator tube doesn't have to go down her throat. She was very sleepy from the surgery. December 13 - Today Lisa is beginning moved her right arm, her head away from pain, and is coughing. She is also breathing on her own, but is still on the ventilator. December 12 - Lisa's brain pressure went up today. The doctors drain some of the the excess fluid off to lower the pressure back down. December 11 - Lisa's left eye was responding slightly to stimuli. She also had a fever of 103. December 10 - Lisa was really sleepy today. She is continuing to be monitored. December 9 - Lisa blood pressure became low today. The doctors gave her blood and IVs. December 8 - Nothing major today. The doctors are continuing to monitor. December 7 - Lisa had surgery today. The doctors removed a portion of her skull to relieve the pressure on the brain because it went up too high. It will be replaced later after the swelling subsides. They also removed a blood clot on the brain. December 6 - The pressure of the fluid surrounding Lisa brain is a little higher than normal. The doctors are monitoring it to make sure it doesn't go too high. December 5 - Jean, Chad, and Lisa were in a car accident. Chad was ok. Jean had a few scratches and a dislocated finger. Lisa sustained major head injuries and was unconscious and was life-flighted to Geisinger. |
