Christmas Cantata Rehearsal - Rehearsals will be held after Sunday services. All are welcome to participate.

Thanksgiving Boxes - We are again collecting food to give boxes of food to needy families for Thanksgiving. We ask you to support this annual effort of our church's Outreach Ministry. Food items can be deposited on the back table and money donations can be placed in the special offering envelopes. Boxes will be packed for pickup on November 23.

Sanctuary Addition - The addition work continues this week. If anyone has time and would like to help, please stop by. The total cost looks to be about $20,000. Your continued support will help us with finishing this project.

Wellsboro District Gulf Coast Mission Trip III
Our district's third Mission Trip to the Gulf Coast will be unlike either of our previous trips. This time we plan to build an entire three bedroom house from the foundation up. The trip actually will be in two consecutive segments of one week each. The first week (January . 24-January 31) will involve only about 20 skilled laborers. The second week (January 31-February 7) is for anyone with a desire to join in the work. Cost of participation to cover transportation and meals except those in transit & when we go out to restaurants) is a non refundable $350 per person, or $500 for skilled laborers who stay for both weeks. Reservations are being accepted only for the second week. Skilled laborers interested in participating in week one should contact Carl Koch directly (phone: 570-835-5619 or email: ckoch@epix.net) to talk with him about specific needs. We'll be accepting approximately 40 reservations for week two on a first come, first served basis. Reservations are made by forwarding a $350 non refundable check made payable to "CPCUMC" to: The Wellsboro District Office, 35 Fairview Acres Road, Wellsboro PA 16901. The cost of building a three bedroom home will be in the neighborhood of $55,000-60,000, so we are again looking to the churches of this district to help us raise the necessary funds. Speakers from our first and/or second mission trips are available to speak at district churches; contact Nancy Lamb (nlamb@zitomedia.net), Carl Koch (ckoch@epix.net), or Chrissy Swanson (cswanson2006@yahoo.com). We're encouraging every church in the district to hold some kind of fund raiser for the house we're planning to build. Perhaps too, there at individuals who can't participate in the mission trip personally, but they are able to contribute toward a $350 scholarship so that someone else can attend who might not otherwise be able to afford to go. Something we can all be doing is pray: pray for the folks still homeless since Katrina, pray for those who will live in our home, pray for the Lord to call the persons he desires to participate in this mission trip, and pray for the Lord to provide the necessary resources.

Urukundo Home for Children
How Much Impact Does My Donation Really Have?

The Urukundo Home for Children has seen some changes over the past month. The girls home which is under construction now has a red metal roof. They hope to have the girls in by December. Also, the home has received the gift of a cow named "flower". To learn about "flower" and all that the children's home has been doing, go to www.hopemadereal.org.
We continue to take donations for the children's home. There is much need and they depend on caring people like you to supply the necessary funds. They paid for 250 children to go to school this past year. They hope to increase that to 300 next year. It doesn't sound like much, but costs only $15 to send a child to school for a year.

Here's a list of some of the costs to give you a sense how little it takes to make a difference in a child's life in Rwanda.

  • $600 a year is all it costs to care for one child with all expenses included.
  • Primary school with some additional support for our housed children is only $100 per year.
  • Our Urukundo Scholarship Program currently sponsors 230 children at $15 each a year.
  • Secondary school is $300 per year, including room and board. (All secondary schools in Rwanda are boarding schools.)
  • University or Technical school is $1,500 per year. This amount includes the room and board.

Current Financial Needs - There are two major financial concerns that need to be brought to everyone's attention. This week the furnace that heats the Sunday School rooms needed repair. The cost was over $900. We also have to pay our last payment of $1,627.50 to our Conference's Holy Grounds Campaign. This is a five year campaign to upgrade our conference Church camps. Our overall commitment is $8,510.
