Community Outreach is a Priority at Park Church
Park Church is committed to being involved in our community as Jesus was involved in
his community. We feed the poor, visit the imprisoned, and tend the sick through programs
run by our church and cooperative efforts run by others in our community. A few of these
are:
- Wojahn Subdivision - A Habitat for Humanity Partnership
Only a couple of blocks from our church, 27 lots have been set aside to create a complete
subdivision of Habitat for Humanity Homes. Each family in this subdivision will have
participated in the creation of their own and other homes in their neighborhood. Park
Church has supported the project with fundraising projects, food for workers on building
days, and, of course, workers.
- Faith, Hope & Love - Bringing Christ to the Imprisoned
The Bloomington-Normal Emmaus Community works through the Faith, Hope & Love
Ministries to provide spiritual development weekends and other Christian support to
prisoners of the Logan Correctional Institution. Park Church supports this outreach with
the time, money, and prayers of our members.
- Home Sweet Home Mission - Home for the Homeless
Park Church has supported this local mission nearly since it began. Providing a home for
many individuals and families, Home Sweet Home supports those in need while helping them
find a path out of poverty. We regularly contribute to their food pantry, Mission Mart
fundraising shop, and include an annual donation in our church mission budget.
- Worship Outreach to Shut-Ins
Although we regularly visit and minister to shut-in members of our church, we also provide
worship opportunities and special activities for all residents of Woodhill Towers - an
assisted living complex, and McLean County Nursing Home. Our annual Christmas program at
Woodhill Towers provides music, refreshments, and small gifts for over two hundred
residents. Some have told us that our party will be their only Christmas celebration.
- Even More Opportunities for Outreach
The community outreach involvement of Park Church reflects the individual interests of
our members. Whether your interests are fighting poverty, social injustice, racial
inequalities, or community illiteracy, Park Church stands ready to support your efforts.
We want to say yes to new ministries that reach out in Jesus' name. If you would like help
with your special interest, please contact Pastor Rob Roy.
