Church Activities

Sunday morning worship services bring us together, but our other church activities help keep us together as family. We have a variety of study opportunities, fellowship gatherings, and service projects for all ages in the calendar of Park Church. If you would like details of our current activities, please contact Pastor Rob Roy or the church office at (309) 828-8152 for specific questions and/or to request a copy of our most current monthly newsletter. Here is a sampling of events.

Sunday Activities:

  • 9:00 AM - Worship and Sunday School
This traditional worship service format begins with a message for the children.
Sunday School classes are offered for all ages, with three different adult classes.
  • 10:00 AM - Fellowship Mixer
Adults enjoy the fellowship, but children usually know this as "Cookie Time!" This short break allows participants in 9 AM and 10:30 AM services to greet one another.
  • 10:30 AM - Worship and Children's Church
While teens and adults participate in worship in the sanctuary, children are invited to their own worship.
  • Sunday Afternoon - Confirmation Classes, Youth Activities, Tower Ministries
Confirmation classes for 6th through 8th grades meet on the 1st & 3rd Sundays at 1:00 PM.
Junior High and Senior High UMYF meet separately from 2:00-4:00 PM most Sundays.
Members of Park Church provide a worship service the 2nd Sunday of the month at Woodhill Towers at 3:00 PM.
  • 6:00 PM - Praise and Prayer
Join us for this informal contemporary service of praise, prayer, and a short teaching.
  • Sunday 7:00 PM - Disciple Bible Study
Contact Pastor Rob Roy for more information on this intensive series.

Wednesday Activities : Quilters, Know Your Bible Club, Park Puppeteers, Midweek Bible Study, Youth and Adult Choirs, & Supper:
The second busiest day of the week at Park Church is definitely Wednesday. The Quilters faithfully meet from 9 AM to 3 PM to assemble quilts by hand as their way to raise funds for missions. Our evening begins at 5:15 PM when young people from Kindergarten through 12th grade are invited to participate in choir practice and their own midweek study, Know Your Bible Club for K-5th and Park Puppeteers for 6th-12th. Supper is served from 5:30-6:15 PM - everyone invited. Adults have a Bible Study at 6:00 PM and choir practice at 7:00 PM.

Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday Evenings - United Methodist Women, Committees & Boards
It is not unusual to find cars in the parking lot any night of the week. In addition to a general meeting on the third Thursday of each month, United Methodist Women also have small group ("circle") meetings monthly, usually in member's homes. Most committees have monthly meeting dates, and the Administrative Council meets on the 2nd Monday each month.

Other Special Events
It is impossible to list all the many activities Park Church members enjoy. There is a couples group called Park 'N Motion that schedule special events each month for all the couples of the church. October is our month to help deliver Mobile Meals in the community. Individuals support Walk to Emmaus, Chrysalis, and Marriage Encounter weekends as enrichment opportunities for adults, teens, and married couples. Handbell Choirs hope to begin practice in February 1999. If interested in an activity not listed here, contact Pastor Rob Roy or call the church office at (309) 828-8152. New activities are added as there is interest.
