Our Mission
Our mission is to joyfully serve the Lord through love, prayer, encouragement, education, and outreach.
To fulfill this mission we are developing an education, resource, and information center for those interested in starting and growing parish nurse-health ministry programs.
Christ sent out the Apostles to proclaim the Kingdom of God and to heal (Luke 9:2)
Welcome to the RNR Parish Nurse Community Outreach Homepage. On this website, you will find information about parish nursing in general and in the United Methodist Church. The About Us page has information about the people involved in this ministry, in addition to a list of current projects. For more information about Rural Nurse Resource, go to www.ruralnurseresource.org
Note: parish nursing is also called faith community nursing. We have chosen to retain the parish nurse title that this ministry began with.
Our Purpose
The purpose of this temporary website is to provide information, resources, and communication for United Methodist parish nurses and for parish nurses serving United Methodist congregations.
In the United Methodist Church, Parish Nursing is under the umbrella of Health & Welfare, General Board of Global Ministries. Patricia Magyar RN, MPH is the Executive Secretary for the General Board. Sharon Hinton, RN, MSN is the Parish Nurse Consultant for the denomination.
