The Parish House

The Parish House was purchased by the Upshur Cooperative Parish in 1991 in order to house the ministries that were started to address the needs of people in Upshur County. The United Methodist Churches of Upshur Parish purchased the house which is located across from the West Virginia Wesleyan College Campus.

The Parish House provides resources to individuals, local churches and other organizations:

A Resource Room contains curriculum for Bible studies, worship resources, Church School teaching materials, reference books and other materials for use by the churches in the Upshur Parish. Included in these materials is the Disciple Bible Study series.

An office is provided for Buckhannon River Habitat For Humanity.

The Layette Room provides a bundle of supplies to eligible parents of newborn babies; churches and other organizations provide the items for the layettes through planned baby showers and special donations.

Crosslines is located in the Parish House, providing information and referral services to individuals.

Youth exchange trips to Germany are organized in a cooperative effort with Methodist churches abroad.

The Parish House works in cooperation with other local organizations to provide the Christmas Store, a place where eligible parents may purchase new toys at reduced prices and obtain books, puzzles, warm winter clothing and used toys for their children.
