2010 Lenten Schedule
Saturday, March 27th
Resurrection Easter Egg Hunt — 1 - 3:30pm.
Sunday, March 28th — Palm / Passion Sunday
Worship at 8am, 9:30am, and 11am.
Thursday, April 1st — Maundy Thursday
An Evening in the Upper Room at 6pm. (Potluck Supper)
Bring the whole family and a covered-dish or dessert to share!
Friday, April 2nd — Good Friday
At noon, Tenebrae service is presented by the Youth Worship team.
The Prayer Labyrinth will be open in the Old Fellowship Hall 1–7pm.
At 7pm, a presentation "Lenten Sketches", a profound and poignant examination of Jesus’ last days on earth. This service is presented by the adult choirs and a chamber orchestra, and will be a worship event you will not want to miss.
The Tenebrae service, or "service of darkness", explores the passion and death of Christ in more spiritually intimate terms. Through music, prayer, and meditation, let us seek to draw closer to Christ, learning anew of His greatest sacrifice and grace. Small children may not appreciate these services; child care will be available.
Saturday, April 3rd — Easter Saturday
The Prayer Labyrinth will be open in the Old Fellowship Hall
9am – 5pm.
Saturday Evening Worship Encounter at 5pm.
Sunday, April 4th — Easter Sunday
Worship at 6am (sunrise), 8am, 9:30am, and 11am.
Beginning the most joyous and celebrative season of the Christian year, Easter Sunday combines great music and liturgy with God’s timeless message of hope and triumph. "Oh, Death, where is thy sting? Oh, grave, thy victory? Not even death can separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus, our Lord!"
Please note that we will not be serving Communion on Easter Sunday, but will celebrate Communion on April 11th.
UMCOR Helping those in Need
Financial support for the earthquake relief in Chile and Haiti can be sent to UMCOR by writing a check to PHUMC. In the memo line, please write UMCOR.
Donations may be made online by going to www.gbgm-umc.org and designating your gift for Haiti or Chile relief. Checks may be placed in local church offerings or mailed to UMCOR, P. O. Box 9068, New York, NY 10087. The entire amount of each gift will be used to help the people of Haiti or Chile, and that is a unique feature about donations made through UMCOR. No portion is siphoned off for overhead costs or administrative costs.
