SUNDAY SCHOOL—COMING SOON! SEEKERS Are you Seeking? The Seekers are here every Sunday morning at 9:45am in room 100. Whether you come once in a blue moon, once a month, or every week, our door is open for you. Encounter Scripture, have some coffee, and join in discussion and prayer. Our ages and stages in life vary—some single, some married, some widowed, some just over twenty, some just under 80, some new in faith and the rest—but God is working on us. Right now the seekers are working through the book, “There’s a hole in your soul that only God can fill” by James W. Moore. Come and join the class! MUSIC The choir is the anchor of the music ministries. They fellowship Wednesdays at 7:30 in the choir loft. Our choir performs anthems at both the 8:20 and 11:00 services as well as special occasions. Each Easter and Christmas they present festive choral musicals for the season. They participate in the community Memorial Day service as well as Essex Christmas Tree lighting. KEENAGERS If you are over 55, this is the place for you! The Keenagers meet the first Thursday of every month at 11:30 in the Fellowship Hall for fun, fellowship, and devotion. They also take several bus trips throughout the year. For more info, contact the church office at 410-687-9483. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL What greater gift can we as Christians share with children than the love of God? Through VBS, we encourage youth of all ages to learn about Jesus through a variety of crafts, games, music, recreation, and snacks. No matter what our theme is (which changes every year), the goal is to provide children with a loving, secure environment where they can share and experience the love of God first-hand. Check the youth link on the left for a VBS update THRIFT SHOP Open first Saturday of every month unless the first Saturday is a holiday (then it’s the second Saturday). Open 8:30 AM-Noon. We sell house-wares, clothing for children, men, and women, jewelry, toys, puzzles, books, phonograph records, cassettes, videos, fabrics, and more at bargain prices! Come shop or browse! All proceeds benefit the church. FALL FESTIVAL The Fall Festival is usually held on the first Saturday of October, rain or shine! It is Orems UMC’s biggest fundraiser with all proceeds going to a specific area of need. 2005 saw the funds go to victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Donated items are sold in areas such as White Elephant, Country Store, Toys and Games, Books, Jewelry, Clothes, Furniture, and Small Appliances. A Bake Table, Ice Cream, and plenty of good food is also served. For more information or to donate, please contact the church office at 410-687-9483. GATEWAY PASTORS AND CHURCHES Orems United Methodist Church is part of the Gateway Pastors and Churches of Essex and Middle River, which meets at Double T Diner in White Marsh at 9:30 AM the 2nd Wednesday of each month. All area churches are invited to attend. The purpose of the group is to reach out to the unchurched in the area. We hold special services for Good Friday, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, and sponsor the Gospel stage at the annual Essex Day festival. |
