It will also help you navigate through the initial steps you are required to make as you move towards candidacy and possible ordained ministry or ministry as a Local Pastor in the United Methodist Church.

  Contact your pastor (or another UM elder) and get from him/her a copy of The Christian as Minister.
  Review The Christian as Minister with your pastor (or UM elder), taking time to discern and your call to ministry.
  Mail your District Superintendent a letter requesting to enter the process to become a Certified Candidate.
     
Briefly outline your call to ministry.
      Include in the letter where you hold your local church membership and how you have been active in the ministry of that local congregation.
  If your District Superintendent hasn't sent your the Steps Into the Ordained Ministry and the release forms for the our required background checks, contact him/her to make an appointment to pick up these documents. Once you get your copy of the Steps Into the Ordained Ministry following ALL the steps as outlined.
  When it's time, refer to your Steps Into the Ordained Ministry, to register with Nashville you can your the link provided below to access their on-line registration process.

The Conference Board of Ordained Ministry is charged with coordinating much of the formation and continuing formation of the spiritual leaders who are licensed, consecrated, commissioned, or ordained for the ministry within the Illinois Great Rivers Conference.
