Making Disciples for Jesus Christ by Equipping Local Churches
The World is Our Parish
When you are contacted by someone inquiring about Licensed/Ordained Ministry give them a copy of The Christian as Minister. If you don't have a copy get one from your District Superintendent.
Review and discuss The Christian as Minister with the person, helping them to begin to discern and clarify their call to ministry.
Contact the District Superintendent, in writing, indicating that this person has contacted you and is meeting with you concerning a call to Ordained Ministry. Please remember:
After you have completed The Christian as Minister, have the person make an appointment to discuss their call to ministry with the District Superintendent. At that time the District Superintendent may or may not have them completed the required background checks and begin the formal steps toward Candidacy.
Once they have been assigned a mentor and have completed their Online Candidacy Guidebook, prefer your Staff/Parish Relations Committee for a meeting with the candidate.
Upon receiving a positive recommendation from the S/PPRC, the Candidate must also receive a 2/3 positive vote from the your congregation's Charge Conference. Please remember
After receiving a positive recommendation from your congregations’ Charge Conference be sure the candidate mails Form 104: Declaration of Candidacy for Ordained Ministry, all written work prepared for S/PPRC, and all education transcripts to the dCOM Registrar and to the District Superintendent's Office.
This ends your formal participation in the Candidacy Process, but you are encouraged to please nurture, guide and access this person’s call into ministry.
