Youth Service Fund

What is the YSF?  YSF is the Youth Service Fund -- the United Methodist mission fund supported by Youth.  Youth raise the money and choose the projects -- youth ministries in our communities, around our country, and around the world!  Of the money raised, 70% is distributed by youth in the annual conference (such as the Oregon-Idaho Conference) and 30% is distributed by the United Methodist Youth Organization (UMYO).

In recent years, UMYO has used YSF funds to support ministry in Tennessee, Ohio, Texas, West Virginia, India, Uganda, North Korea, and Ghana, just to name a few of the places your YSF contributions have gone!  Click on the following link to view current projects funded by UMYO; http://www.umyouth.org/youth_service_fund.html#projects.

Over the last few years, we have raised enough here in Oregon and Idaho that we are planning to give substantial grants to support youth ministry projects!  Your faithful giving adds up to a world of difference through the Youth Service Fund!

The goal for 2003 (Jan. 1 - Dec. 31) is to raise $2003 dollars for YSF.  Donations will be gathered at District Events, local church Youth Groups, GNIRPS, Workshop Leadership Camp, and other OR-ID Conference youth events.  Once a fund is established, youth groups will be able to apply for grant money to develop their own projects for children and youth.  The CYMT will fund 1 project within our conference and 1 project outside our conference.

As the year progresses, you can keep an eye on the thermometer at the right to track our progress towards our goal.

Join the Can-Fund-Drive!

The Conference Youth Ministry Team is pleased to announce an exciting way to raise money for the Youth Service Fund.  Individuals and local church Youth Groups can participate in the “Can-Fund-Drive” by bringing a dime (or more) each time they come to a youth group gathering and depositing it in a can. Youth groups should then bring the can to GNIRPS 2003 in Portland.

Preparing the can is simple.  Just make a slit in the top of the can, large enough for a coin, and empty the contents out.  You will want to rinse the can before using it as a collection bank.  You can download a label that can be cut out and then taped to the outside of a soup can.  Give it a try and bring a Dime-A-Time.
