The primary mission of Operation Classroom INC , in partnership with the United Methodist Annual Conferences of Liberia and Sierra Leone, is to assist in Christian based education and health care.
Our program areas:
1) United Methodist Schools
The objective is to upgrade the educational program in each of the selected Operation Classroom schools, in both Liberia and Sierra Leone; and to help each school to become self-supporting as soon as possible. When the schools are upgraded to the level set by the department of education in each annual conference, new schools will be selected—by the respective annual conferences—for assistance. To reach our objectives we will:
- Assist the conferences to provide a Christian based educational system
- Upgrade the teaching staff through seminars, college scholarships, and other training opportunities
- Make available school supplies, equipment, and textbooks
- Provide selected needy students with work/study scholarships
- Upgrade and construct classroom buildings
- Develop a functioning library in selected schools
- Develop functioning science laboratory in selected schools
2) Vocational Education and Training
One of the original objectives of Operation Classroom was to develop viable vocational programs in each school. It is the objective of Operation Classroom:
To make available teacher training, equipment, tools, and other resources needed
3) West Africa Trauma Teams (WATTS).
It is well-known that wars create devastating emotional conflicts and trauma. The objective of the WATTS program:
- To train West African pastors, principals, selected church leaders, and teachers in a basic understanding of counseling, so that as they themselves experience healing, they are enabled to assist others in the healing process
- To assist the conferences in providing trained counselors for the schools
- To provide a counseling library in both Liberia and Sierra Leone
- To assist in developing counseling centers in Liberia and Sierra Leone
4) Operation Doctor
