VBS MISSION PROJECT FOR 2009

Operation Classroom announces their VBS mission program for  --2009

1. Providing funds for one or more oil palm trees for one of our Operation Classroom Schools.  Some of our schools are planning to plan an Oil palm tree farm which when in production  will provide funds for scholarships for students.  A PowerPoint is being produced along with other publicity and will be available by May 1. An oil palm tree will cost $9.00.

2. HAND-ON-PROJECT -- Providing band-aids and other first-aid items for schools.  Most of the schools do not have any nearby medical facilities.  First-aid supplies are always needed.

LENT

 
As you consider your special Lenten Mission Offering consider the vocational program of Operation Classroom. This program trains youth, including ex-fighters, to find a skill to help rebuild the country.  Pictures, flyers and a PowerPoint is available from the OC office.

TAYLOR'S SON SENTENCED

A U.S. judge has issued a 97-year prison term against the son of former Liberian leader Charles Taylor for torture in the West African nation. Taylor's son was convicted for abuses during his father's rule.

Sierra Leone Trip report

Rick Chandler writes, "Back in November, a group of ten of us went to Sierra Leone, Africa on a mission trip. It was my third trip there. Natalie, a 15 year old on this trip, made a video on "youtube". If you are interested, take about 9 minutes of your time to get a glimpse into our trip."
