We did it! We got a big tent and worshipped
together in one service. One hundred-ninety-six was
not a record attendance, but many people were gone
because of Fathers Day. :We loved Bishop Hayes. His dynamic preaching fit the occasion of the 110 celebration. Mrs. Hayes commented on the high level of energy she felt in the service. The
bishop complimented the friendliness of the congregation, including the welcome at the gate.
Under the shade of the tent with a light breeze, the temperature was comfortable. A new-friend of the church
helped us find a nice platform for free. Members worked hard to complete the shop for its final inspection. They also had the grounds looking great. The big tent went up in an hour with the help of the scouts and down
in about the same amount of time. Steve Newcomb dug into the history and found out we have actually been doing ministry here for 113 years or longer.
The offering! A goal was set: $11,000. The figure
as of today (6-24) is $10,760.51. So close! A good "shot in the arm" for the building fund!
A neighbor walked to the celebration and said that when the new church is built, he will come each
Sunday because he will be able to walk from his house. Was he serious? I don't know, but since Sunday he has driven his tractor down to help with the mowing on our property.
