The Holy Spirit came to Jesus when He prayed, and likewise He will come to us when we pray. Even the very Son of God knew the importance of praying to invite the Spirit's anointing. Jesus did not try to preach or heal without this power source. That is why. before the ascension, He instructed His first pastors to stay in Jerusalem until they had been "clothed with power from on high." He knew they needed that power to spread the gospel. Jesus made it clear that the same power is available to us through prayer. "If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!" (Luke 11:13) Pastors are blessed by the Holy Spirit as people pray. When we humble ourselves in prayer, we are emptied out. and like a wind, the Spirit rushes in and fills us with power for His work. The name and personhood of Jesus are exalted as a result of prayer hedges.
