History of Grace United Methodist Church

Grace United Methodist Church has a long history of service in the Norway area. St. Paul's Methodist Church and Immanuel Swedish Methodist Church were formed in Norway in 1879. In 1958 the two congregations merged. Vulcan Methodist church formed in 1882 and merged with these congregations in 1964. From these mergers, Grace United Methodist Church has its existence today.

Our heritage has been one of serving the needs of immigrants to this area, especially the Swedish and Cornish people who were attracted to the mining industry that existed here for many years. As we move into the twenty-first century, we will strive to meet needs and problems of this new age.
