New Sanctuary Update After three years of planning and preparing, we are officially breaking ground on Sunday, August 10th. Following our one service at 11:00 am that morning, we will proceed outside to the lawn to conduct the groundbreaking ceremonies. A covered dish luncheon will follow in the Fellowship Hall. How we finally arrived at this point: The Building Committee conducted contractor interviews in May in hopes of locating a local firm to work on our project. Atlantic Construction, on Doris Avenue, was chosen to be our General Contractor. Our survey, appraisal, bank loan processing, and budget revisions are all complete. At our July 10th meeting with our Construction Management team at Church Design Concepts, our General Contractor Atlantic Construction and the Building Committee, it was determined that all parts of the project were ready to merge and proceed with a groundbreaking deadline of August 10th. All Trustees, District Superintendent Dennis Goodwin, and Pastor Rick will be closing on the construction loan with BB&T on August 8th for $800,000. The cost of the project, barring any major change orders, is expected to be around the $1 million mark. Our Construction Management Team, as well as our Building Committee Team, will ensure a sound accounting of the project on a monthly basis, which will be communicated to the congregation as we progress through the construction. It is estimated that the building will take 8 months to complete. Please pardon our dust and inconvenience during this next year as the current narthex will be blocked off and bathrooms renovated. Great big thanks to the building committee, finance committee, trustees, and the congregation for all the prayers, support and sacrifice to make this dream become a reality! Soon we can open our "new" doors to allow us to expand our ministry of making more disciples of Jesus Christ.
