Structure
United Methodist Volunteers In Mission – North Central Jurisdiction supports efforts by individuals and groups of volunteers within the NCJ who undertake specific tasks as described by their hosts to bring Christ's healing to situations of need. It acts as a clearinghouse for UMVIM and builds covenant relationships with the Annual Conferences in the NCJ. UMVIM-NCJ acts as a resourcing agency for conference VIM committees, maintains linkages with the office of the General Board of Global Ministries’ Representative to the NCJ and the Mission Volunteers’ office.

Board membership is composed of 3 members of the Conference Secretaries of Global Ministries, 3 Conference UMVIM Coordinators, 6 members for skills and expertise, 3 persons of racial-ethnicity, and 2 youth. An administrator carries out the day to day duties of the Board.

Every effort is made to have representation from all twelve Annual Conferences of the NCJ.

Advance Special #901375
United Methodist Volunteer In Mission – North Central Jurisdiction has Advance Special Status through UMCOR. If you wish, your gift to Advance Special #901375 can be designated for any of the above programs of UMVIM-NCJ by placing that name on the memo line of your check. Thank you for supporting the work of this agency!

Scholarships Available:
United Methodist Volunteer In Mission – North Central Jurisdiction offers two scholarship opportunities. Both are to help persons of ethnicity be involved in the UMVIM experience.

  • The first one is offered to a youth participant on a Mission Discovery team.
• The second is for a first time participant on a teachUM team.

The recipients are expected to help promote the programs by speaking to local, district &/or conference groups as well as submitting a report on their experience for the UMVIM-NCJ office

Insurance Coverage
Better be safe than sorry! All team members need to take insurance coverage prior to an overseas work trip. Paying 75 cents per day to be covered for medical expenses, accidental death/dismemberment and emergency medical evacuation is a bargain. This coverage can save your life as well as your pocketbook.
