U.M.W. HIGHLIGHTS

Just a quick reminder, our next meeting will be held on November 8, 2009 right after Coffee Hour. The theme will be Something Pumpkin. Please bring something in to share. I invite any new ideas and people to come to the meeting and share. If there is something that you would like to have on the agenda please call Tami at 693 – 4227.

UMW Updates

At our last UMW meeting held on September 13, 2009 we had a speaker, Debbie Laws, from the Crisis Pregnancy Center to share their happiness with the group for the amount of money that was raised by the church. We were able to collectively donate $422.76. This money will be used for a variety of things within the center.

At this meeting we also spoke on the following topics:
Canton Connections: Due to the economy they have cut back to only 2 days a week. They are always looking for donations of goodies (crackers, goldfish, etc.) fruit, cheese, paper, crayons, markers and colored paper. If you want to bring something in and make a donation see Connie Porter.
Food Pantry: We are doing well on our goal of 100 bags for the year. Currently we are at 80 bags. Thank you to all you have continuously bringing in food supplies. I thank you and the food pantry thanks you. They have recently been serving about 130 people. If you haven’t already seen a few of the thank-yous that they send us, please look at the goal thermometer where they are posted. Also please don’t color in the thermometer; I will take care of that part. Thanks Again.
Prayer Shawl :To date they have been busy making 115 shawls. Thank you so much to these ladies that have but their time and effort into such a comforting shawl.

Please keep your ears open for this year’s Secret Santa for the Methodist Health Care Center. We have been supplying Christmas presents to the center for the past few years and we will try to do the same again this year. A wish list is shone elsewhere in this newsletter and a box for gifts will soon be in Case Hall.

We also distributed a portion of our money from the Strawberry Festival. The remaining part will be distributed at the November meeting.
The officers stayed the same again for this year. However, it would be great if someone would decide to take on the role of Secretary. Anyone interested please speak to Tami Weeks.

United Methodist Men to Host Scout Clean-up Day

November 7th our United Methodist Men will be making breakfast for scouts coming to rake leaves and do general autumn clean-up for our church. We appreciate Shawn Weeks and Doug Clement coordinating this event and service project.
