North Canton Community United Methodist Church

SHINING THE LIGHT OF GOD IN OUR COMMUNITY!!

The following are just a few examples of the opportunities for service at North Canton Community UMC. All members and visitors are invited to join in any of these ministries, or help us to see other areas where we might serve our community, letting God's light shine in the darkness!

Vacation Bible School

NCCUMC offers this wonderful outreach ministry each summer to all area children, free of charge. This is our free gift to the community, funded through NCCUMC's United Methodist Women.

United Methodist Certified Lay Speakers

NCCUMC's certified lay speakers join with other area UMC lay speakers to provide preaching and worship leadership to churches without a full-time pastor, or in those times when a pastor is on vacation or out of town. Please contact the Church office if you wish to sign up.

Visitation Ministries

NCCUMC Lay Speakers serve as visiting ministers to the sick and shut in.

Lectionary Prayer Angels

This group meets weekly (Wednesdays at noon and Sunday Mornings at 9:30 a.m.) to pray for our members, our visitors, our community and our world, especially lifting up in prayer those written in our weekly Prayer Journal which is posted outside the Sanctuary. These prayer concerns are also lifted up in prayer during each worship service every Sunday morning.

The Holy Club

This Spiritual Formation Group meets weekly (Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m.) to share their faith journey with one another, utilizing a printed format which enables each person to talk about their personal spiritual growth on a daily basis for the preceding week. Based on John Wesley's 18th Century covenant group discipleship. Each group also "adopts" various mission projects throughout the year, i.e. providing Valentines to shut-ins, or providing music and food to a battered women's and children's shelter.

Mercy House

NCCUMC Disciple 3 Bible Study class and other members serve in rotation at this shelter and food kitchen for the homeless in Hartford.

United Methodist Women & United Methodist Men

NCCUMC service groups who are involved in mission work at both the local church and global levels, including financial and prayerful support of the Moscow Chaplaincy of the United Methodist Church.

Focus on Canton

NCCUMC members join other community leaders and groups in service projects of the local community, including the seasonal town clean up Work Days, Crop Walk, and the annual community Thanksgiving Dinner.

Medical Equipment Loans

NCCUMC offers sharing and caring through the loaning out of basic medical equipment such as canes, walkers, and wheelchairs, to anyone in need.

Vacation Lunch Boxes

NCCUMC Council on Ministries serves needy children of working parents by collecting free lunch supplies for their use during the winter and spring school breaks.

Cherry Brook and McLean Healthcare Facilities

Pastoral care is provided to these nursing home and assisted living facilities on a regular basis.

Global Prayers for Peace

NCCUMC's pastor and members join in this monthly meeting and prayer service at rotating area churches as we seek to be instruments of peace at work in God's Creation. Please join us each 4th Thursday morning at 7 a.m. Contact the Church office for a list of locations.

After-School Church Camp

NCCUMC is currently researching and working to create an after school mentoring and shelter program during the school year for elementary-age children of local residents who work outside their homes. If you would like to serve on this Board or as a Director or Teacher, or have a child who would benefit from such a program, please contact the church office.

Come grow with us as we seek to be the light of God shining in the world!
