You have reached the website of Community United Methodist Church, Nome’s Oldest Protestant Church.  We are a part of the Alaska United Methodist Conference, a Missionary Conference of the United Methodist Church.  Community United Methodist Church is a unique congregation located in a unique ministry setting.  We are located in the historic Gold Rush town of Nome Alaska, located on the Southern side of Alaska’s Seward Peninsula just below the Arctic Circle.  The population of Nome is unique too, being approximately 51 percent Native Alaskan and about 38 percent white.  Our congregation reflects that diversity, with both Native Alaskan and non-native members.  In fact our congregation has a long history of leadership in this area starting with the merger of the “Native” Methodist Church with the Federated Church (the non-native Methodist/Congregation congregation), long before Native Alaskans were truly valued as God’s children.
