The Garden is ideally located overlooking beautiful Lake Carasaljo at the point of North Lake Drive and Fifth Street in Lakewood.  The plantings are designed to present an attractive natural setting for all seasons of the year.  Benches are provided and the area is maintained to be used by family and friends of loved ones for quiet moments of reflections, solace and meditation.

At the time of death, a Christian casts off the physical body for  a spiritual one.  Cremation gives important emphasis to the fact that the earthly presence of the deceased exists no more, and this can be an aid in the acceptance of the reality of death.  After death the body returns to dust.  Cremation is considered as natural and appropriate in full accord with the best traditions of the Christian faith.

Quite often, our Pastor is visited by people who wish to make prearrangements for interment in the Memorial Garden.  Others decide that they wish to use the Garden at the time of the death of a loved one.  It is critical that our Pastor be notified immediately in order to provide comfort and support to the family and to assist in the detailed arrangements for cremation, memorial service, and interment.

After interment, a bronze nameplate showing the  name, year of birth, and year of death may be placed with the other nameplates on the large bronze plaque located in the Garden. The nameplate may be ordered through the Church office and the same information will be entered in the Memorial Garden record book which is available in the narthex of the Church.  There is no exact identification of the site of interment, however those who wish to have a memorial planting in the Garden or donate funds for maintenance and beautification of the area may contact the Memorial Garden Committee.

The membership of Christ United Methodist Church intends for the Memorial Garden to provide an essential service for those who need it.  There is a minimal set fee for interment and a nameplate; however no one shall be denied this service due to financial considerations.

The Memorial Garden Committee welcomes additional contributions as a means to help defray costs associated with maintaining the Garden’s landscaping, benches and lawn care.

Most of the work in maintaining this beautiful facility is done by volunteers of the church. If you like to garden, perhaps this could be one way to fulfill your commitment to serve.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil; for though art with me.
