Pentecost Sunday..
7-8He told them, "You don't
get to know the time. Timing is the Father's business. What you'll get is the
Holy Spirit.
And when the Holy Spirit comes on you, you will be able
to be my witnesses in Jerusalem,
All over Judea and Samaria, even to the ends of the
world."
Acts 1:8 MSG
Welcome to this service of worship of
dual recognition and celebration. We remember, with reverence and thanksgiving,
those who gave their lives for our country. Above all, we remember him whose
love includes people of all nations – our Lord Jesus who gave his life for us
all. May the remembrance of his sacrifice bring reconciliation and peace!
We also celebrate Pentecost (the Greek
word for the “fiftieth day”). The origins of Pentecost reach back to the Jewish
festival of Shavuot, which falls fifty days after the Passover. Shavuot is
connected to the season of the grain harvest, and also to God’s giving of the
law on Mt. Sinai. Both of these seasons evoke joy and gratitude for the
presence of God in the people Israel. Pentecost marks a new season of joy and
gratitude as the Church is filled with the presence of the Holy Spirit fifty
days after Easter.
All who love Jesus,
all who strive to keep God’s
commandments,
all who are open to the Spirit who leads
us,
come forward today to praise, to pray,
and to proclaim!

The Church has
long had a concern for the reverent disposal of the remains of her dead. In the
past, the churchyard often adjoined the church building,
but this has
become impractical. Recognizing the desire for church-centered arrangements at
the time of death, Christ United Methodist Church has
provided a
Memorial Garden for ashes to be interred. Please click here for more details:
The Church employs
a Choir Director/Organist who provides choirs for all ages. Our Spanish
worship service features guitar, drums and tambourines.
The Church
provides Sunday school in both Spanish (10:00 AM Sundays) and English (9:30 AM
Sundays) from September to June.
The Church also
runs Bible study and special short-term programs.
Organizations at the
Church include the United Methodist Women, United Methodist Men, and the United
Methodist Youth.
