UMCOR Work Receives Aid from Generous Anonymous Donor at Galena UMC

On an ordinary Sunday, during a regular worship something remarkable happened at Galena United Methodist Church. An anonymous donor dropped a very large check into the collection plate with a request that $10,000 of the money be earmarked for the United Methodist Committee of Relief (UMCOR) for projects both at home and globally. The Galena UMC Finance Committee met and designated 25% of the money for Midwest flood relief, 25% for general relief in the United States and 50% to alleviate poverty in the world. “Galena UMC is honored to be able to contribute this gift because of someone’s generous spirit,” says Rev. Dan Schenck, pastor. One person is able to make a considerable difference because of their generosity.
