2007 RECOGNITION OF

MISSION TODAY HONOR UNITS

It is recommended that this form be used in program planning. It will aid in keeping an accurate account of the various activities the members of each unit participate in throughout the year in keeping with the PURPOSE of United Methodist Women.

 

POINTS: 5 points for each statement. 10 points for each *statement. Honor Unit is 100 points or more

 
I. Unit Structure/Responsibilities
  1.              Unit added at least two (2) new members.
  2.               *Unit formed a new circle or interest group.
  3.               *Unit had a United Methodist Women Recognition Sunday.

  4.                Unit turned in their officer list to the District by September 30th.

  5.                Unit had a spiritual event or retreat.
  6.                *Unit had at least one (1) member joining the United Methodist Women's Action Network to receive and respond to legislative information at least three (3) times a year. (To join, contact Women's Division, 100 Maryland Avenue, NE Suite 530, Washington, D.C. 20002)

II. Literature/Program Resources

  1.                Unit had a mission study from the School of Christian Mission (past or current).
  2.                Unit participated in the Reading Program. (+)
  3.              Unit had at least two (2) members subscribing to Response Magazine and an item was lifted up at one or more meetings to tell a mission story. (+) New World Outlook magazine provides another good way to tell the mission story.
  4.                *Unit used at least two (2) programs from the Program Book for United Methodist Women. (+)
  5.                Unit used the Prayer Calendar at meetings and corresponded with five (5) persons listed in the Prayer Calendar. (+)
  6.              Unit read and circulated District and Conference newsletters.
  7.                Unit obtained  the Material Resources for Mission Catalog and/or UMCOR web site (http://gbgm-umjc.org/UMCOR) and contributed the needed materials to a mission project. (+)

III. Meetings

  1.                Unit members (other than Conference officers) attended the Conference Spiritual Retreat (5 pts. each person)
  2.                Unit members (other than District or Conference officers) attended the District Spring Meeting (5 pts each person)
  3.                Unit members (other than District or Conference officers) attended Drive-In Day for School of Christian Mission (5 pts each person).
  4.                 Unit members (other than District or Conference officers) attended the School of Christian Mission (10 pts each person).
  5.                Unit members (other than District or Conference officers) attended the District Fall Meeting (5 pts each person)
  6.                Unit members (other than Conference officers) attended the Conference Annual Meeting (5 pts each person)
  7.                Local officers attended the District Officer Training (5 pts each person)
  8.                Unit members (other than Conference officers) attended the Conference Racial Justice or Social Action Day (5 pts each person)
  9.                Your pastor(s) attended a District or Conference UMW event (10 pts each pastor).
  10.                Unit held at least four (4) general meetings this year.
  11.                Unit received a visit from your District Fellowship Sister.
  12.              *Unit implemented the Charter of Racial Justice Policies and/or Conference Racial Justice materials.
  13.                Unit sponsored a Children's Sabbath worship service in your church highlighting the needs of children. (+)

IV. Finance

  1.                *Unit achieved the Five-Star status by giving to all five channels of Undesignated Giving:
    • Pledge to Mission
    • World Thank Offering
    • Special Mission Recognition Pin
    • Gift to Mission for a deceased person
    • Gift to Mission card to honor someone
  2.                Unit participated in Call to Prayer and Self Denial program and offering in Program Book. (+)
  3.                Unit gave 100% to Lucille Raines Residence ($6 per member).
  4.                Unit gave 100% to School of Christian Mission ($1.75 per member).
  5.                Unit gave 100% to Youth and Young Adult Service Project ($0.25 per member).
