2011 Spiritual Congress
Learn About Spiritual Formation
Spiritual Formation is defined as " the process of being conformed to the image of Christ for the sake of others.” - Robert Mulholland, Asbury Seminary
John Wesley believed that Jesus is God's means of grace. For him, the "means of grace" were also "works of piety" (spiritual disciplines) and "works of mercy" (doing good to others). He said that means of grace are: "...outward signs, words, or actions, ordained of God, and appointed for this end, to be the ordinary channels whereby he might convey to men, preventing, justifying, or sanctifying grace."
This program is geared toward personal spiritual formation for men. Men are challenged and equipped to examine their values, actions and motives. Encouraged by others in small groups, men discover those things that MUST change before God’s purpose can be fully realized in their lives.
Why You Should Attend
We are sometimes called to interpret scripture, justify our beliefs, make things logical,or justify our actions. John Wesley found a tool which allowed him to balance these areas which he called the Quadrilateral. It is Scripture, Tradition, Experience, and Reason. In theory these four compliment each other and balance each other when used together.
If you are looking for tools to help with your spiritual growth, then this program is for you.
