Pastor Michelle was appointed to this congregation in September 2005. A graduate of Drew Theological School and an Ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church, she comes to us following appointments at Saratoga Springs, Niverville-Chatham Center, and Caroga Lake. She brings an energetic commitment to serve God, and to "preach the gospel at all times, using words when necessary" (to paraphrase St. Francis). She is passionate about communicating Jesus' good news that it is through a deep relationship with God that our lives are transformed and we are empowered to be the people God created us to be.
In her ministry she relies on the strength and support of her family: husband Nate and children Rachel and Jacob.
Karin has been a member of the Newtonville UMC since 1997, with her husband Jason and children Megan and Justin.
She graduated from the SUNY College at Oswego with a BS in Elementary Education and a BA in Music. She has been a preschool teacher, a bank employee, and most recently, a stay-at-home mom (and loving it!) She teaches Sunday School at NUMC, and is also active as an auxiliary member of the Verdoy Volunteer Fire Department (where Jason is Chief), and a classroom parent at Forts Ferry School.
She plays piano and guitar, loves arts and crafts, playing with her kids, and gardening.
"After a long and exhausting journey of finding the right church for us (the church we were married in was pastored by Jason's uncle and closed in 1997), we found ourselves here. The pastor at the time used to minister Jason as a child. We stayed after his retirement because of the congregation. They are warm and welcoming and we fit right in."
