Carrollton UMC cares for its community, and offers ministries to meet the needs of its people. The church provides a home to the Uptown Shepherd’s Center and  the Twomey Center of Loyola University, we are also involved in ministry with Project REACH (Religion, Environment, and Children’s Health) of the Louisiana Conference of the Methodist Church.

Our Ministries

The Shepherd’s Center provides an activity center for seniors from throughout Uptown. They can come to the center for fun, food, and fellowship. Activities include Spanish classes, Bridge, Arts and Crafts, Bible Study, Yoga, etc. The Shepherd’s Center has been part of the Carrollton neighborhood for more than five years.

For over fifty years the Twomey Center has led campaigns for social justice in the Christian tradition. Among its exciting ministries are the Crescent City Farmers Market, Resolving Conflict Creatively Program. More information can be found on their website: http://www.loyno.edu/twomey.

For many years the church has supported the activities of the Methodist Home for Children in New Orleans. The home provides love and care for children who have been abused and neglected. Their website is: http://www.methodisthome.net/.

Recognizing the need to be good stewards of God’s world for the inheritance of our children, our pastor works on a number of environmental issues through Project REACH of the Louisiana Conference of The United Methodist Church.

Carrollton UMC Sunday School and Short-Term Bible Studies

After services each week, the Sunday school meets. The class uses the quarterly curriculum. In addition, we offer short-term studies during the week. These meetings help our community develop as mature disciples of Christ.
