I've been involved at NHUMC for six years and have enjoyed watching the church grow and change. NHUMC has become "the light on the hill" with our open doors, acceptance and supportive atmosphere. I truly believe God guides NHUMC and our congregation to teach His Word and strengthen His Body.

I am the proud mother of two daughters and a soon-to-be-son-in-law. My oldest is an electrical enginner for John Deere. My youngest and her fiance both graduate from University of Iowa this year, getting married a week later, then moving to Minneapolis to begin careers as a neonatal intensive care nurse and CPA, respectively. All too soon the nest will be empty. I am currently working with a great Huntingtons Disease research team at the University of Iowa. I have served on church administrative council and taught Sunday School at Coralville United Methodist Church before becoming a member of New Horizons. My children led me back to Christ after the death of their dad/my husband and soul-mate What a blessing to be a member of God's family and New Horizons.

I am a school social worker and a mother of two children. My husband and I had been looking for a church for sometime when we encountered New Horizons. A church where people not only noticed you were there, but loved the fact that you were. That is what drew us to NHUMC. The congregation is diverse, the love is consistent and praising the Lord is prevalent throughout. We are small in numbers but vast in the teachings of Christ.

My family and I have been coming to New Horizons for the last two and a half years and have been members of the NHUMC family for the last year and a half. We "shopped" for churches for some time and we decided to travel to Coralville every Sunday [from Cedar Rapids] because we found the compassion, comradery, and agape which is at the core of Christ's message. NHUMC is the one of the friendliest, most caring churches this area has to offer. Whether you are at the begining, the end or lost somewhere in the middle of your spiritual journey you will find unconditional acceptance at NHUMC.

I love being a member of WOW - it's a wondeful group of women who love to laugh, enjoy each other's company, while learning more about God's word and plan for us. It's a once amonth "picker upper", refreshing and uplifting. With the children's sermon, I try to find a message that will appeal to kids of all ages, keeping it simple and understandable, positive and upbeat, always with the message that God loves us all and we are very special in his eyes.

I am a licensed journeyman electrician with a background in electronics. I have been working with our multimedia center for about three or four years now, and I couldn't do it without the help of some very fine people teaching me and backing me up when I need the help. When I first joined NHUMC I was involved with the Drama Team, first as an actor and later as the director. I moved on to work with older youth in the church for a short time before becoming involved with the trustee committee a year and a half ago.
