2011 Surprise
Me! “My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor
are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. Isaiah 55:8 When our family went out for ice
cream at a local dairy when I was little, my dad would ask my mother what
flavor she would like. Often she would
reply, “Surprise me!” She was rarely
disappointed in his choice for whatever reason – he knew her likes, she loved
ice cream, etc. Do you like surprises? Would you ever dare say, “Surprise me!” to
God? A lot of us are a little scared to
do that. Yes, we have faith that God
is good and that He loves us. Yet we
are afraid we won’t like what He chooses for us. But it is not about us. He wants to lavish His love and “surprises”
on us. Throughout the Bible we read that
God delights in doing the unexpected.
Sometimes it’s folding back the waters for His people to cross a sea
on dry land (Exodus 14:21-22). Or
forgiving their sin (Psalm 130:1-4).
Jesus’ time on earth was filled with amazing events that pointed
people to His Father – He turned water into wine, calmed storms, healed the
sick and raised the dead. What kind of God do we serve? One who is not confined by our finite imagination (Ephesians 3:20). God’s thoughts are ways not like ours. He wants to bless us with far more than a special flavor of ice cream. He delights in His children who trust Him and are willing to say, “Surprise me, Lord!” And you know what? He is surprising us and moving in ways we didn’t expect, but praise God – He is who He says He is … As we continue to move in His direction, come, join, learn and be a part of the movement of God in surprising ways … Be blessed so you can be a blessing to others. -- Pastor Susan A Phone
Call Away If
you have any pastoral needs, please do not hesitate to call the pastor
(354-8306). Your needs are her needs –
go out to lunch, dinner, spend time talking, go shopping, a phone call, a
prayer, etc. Please know that God
loves you. The
pastor always strives to be a phone call away, but she needs to know your
needs. Please call and leave a message
if no one is home! Love to all!

Volunteers Needed For the Greeter Ministry One of the most important ministries at a church is the position of greeters. When a visitor enters our church, it is the responsibility of the greeters to give a friendly welcome, a smile, and to direct the visitor to the areas they are seeking, such as the sanctuary, elevator, nursery, etc. This first impression made by the greeters will result in a visitor determining if our church is friendly, welcoming, and if they wish to return to worship with us again. The greeter schedule is located on the bulletin board at the base of the steps. We encourage you to take a moment to sign up to be greeter. You could also call the church office to volunteer or give your name to any member of the Worship Committee. Please help us to make a good first impression to the folks who walk through our doors. -- Worship Committee Bazaar

Boundless Love; Overflowing toward you,
with no danger of ever running out! Mama, I heard you calling
out to Your bedroom door wasn’t closed tight. I sat outside your door in the upstairs hall. Mama prayed for third-world impoverished nations; Then she turned to world leaders who are an abomination. She took a deep breath and with strong determination, Mama, you lifted up the people of this world faced with devastation. Earthquakes, tsunamis, tornadoes and much more. For all these to receive their revelation. Oh, yes, dear Some of our fellow warriors are facing death, Others’ health isn’t the best, “By Your stripes heal them, Lord.” When the fellow warriors reach Heaven’s door, They will know they are adored. In your name, To camp round ‘bout my friends and family. Be their hedge of protection on which I know we can depend. For your word says, “I will not leave or forsake you.” So, please take my prayers and let me be your caring child Who can be a light in my children’s darkest night And to teach them properly to “run and not grow weary of doing good works.” As my dear mama closed her prayers, she said, “ Amen, Amen, I’ll chat with you again.” -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Needed: Firewood Perhaps as you
are spring cleaning or working throughout the summer, you or a neighbor may
have some potential firewood to get rid of.
If you have no need of it and would be willing to share, please call
the church office (354-0226). There is
a family in our community with such a need.
Thanks! --
