One of my favorite magazines is called "King Size". Well, it's really not a magazine, but a catalog that I can order my extra size clothes. Now please, if you know me you would recognize the fact that I am ... How would you say it? .. KING SIZE.
"As I look at these beautiful plaid shirts for the fall, I dream how wonderful it would be to look exactly like the model on the front cover. He is black, but you know I don't even see that. All I see is this great looking ... muscled man, and how fantastic I would look in this woodsey looking red and white long sleeve warm shirt. I just know that if I order this shirt maybe people would accept me for who I am and not for how "King Size" I am. Just maybe, I could snuggle right into the acceptance by the people and become like everyone else .... thinking that just because of this good looking moder, I too could be like him (black or not).
As I flip the pages of this book my mind wanders as to how our "Christian Church" is like a "King Size" catalog. We are all models - black, white, yellow, brown, underweight, overweight, tall or short. What we have to offer the world is who we are. We are the best example of Christ that we will ever have to show our friends, our family, or to whomever opens our book. We are the example of that beautiful plaid shirt offering to someone who sees, hears, and knows us The Picture of Jesus Christ.
We are coming together this time of the year to celebrate who we are - Christians. We will eat together at Thanksgiving and sing together with the birth of Jesus at Christmas. Let all of us participate as we put on that KING SIZE cloak of LOVE IN JESUS.
"We do not live to ourselves, and we do not die to ourselves. If we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord; so then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's. For to this end Christ died and lived again, so that he might be Lord of both the dead and the living."
-Romans 13:7
Happy Thanksgiving!
