Hearts. Open Minds. Open Doors. The people of The United Methodist Church |
As a community-wide event to reach the unsaved and the unchurched, Ministerial Alliance members New Fountion UMC; First Baptist Church, Hondo; and St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hondo are working together to present JUDGEMENT HOUSE in early 2010.
JUDGEMENT HOUSE is a dramatic walk-through presentation about the truth of people's choices and their consequences both in this life and the next. It is an effective tool to present people with the opportunity to choose a personal and saving relationship with Jesus Christ. A JUDGEMENT HOUSE presentation becomes an "agent of change" in the community in which it is presented. Entire communities are moved from guilt to grace, and from sin to salvation and from death to life. A report from a covenant partner expressing the beginnings of revival in their community is a common occurrence.
In order to start the process, we have an immediate need of $600 to become a Covenant Partner. This fee entitles us to use the selected script for one year, a license to use the JUDGEMENT HOUSE name and logo to promote our presentation, and other training and promotional materials as well as support from JUDGEMENT HOUSE leaders. There will be more funds needed after we select a script and know what props are required.
Please pray about this. If the Lord leads you to give, please make your check payable to New Fountain United Methodist Church and designate it for JUDGEMENT HOUSE.
Thank you and God bless!
The Evangelism Committee, chaired by Debbie Southwell, met at 7 pm on 15 September. In addition to the Chair, those in attendance were Martha Eakin, Peg Tindall, Kathy Britsch, Bob Mayne and Diane Cosgrove. Discussion items included: first time visitors, Judgement House, witnessing, and attendance.
FIRST TIME VISITORS - As we don't always catch up with first time visitors before they leave church, it was decided that in those cases the welcome packet would be delivered to their home along with the gift.
WITNESSING - In the past the church made available a booklet entitled, "Offering Christ To All" and Peg located the original copy. It was decided to again place a copy of this booklet in the pew-back with each set of song books. Debbie volunteered to make the necessary copies and assemble the books. When ready, the booklets will be placed in the pew-backs for people to read and/or take home and read. This booklet provides great guidelines on how to effectively witness to others.
ATTENDANCE - Concern was expressed regardinging the fact that while we continue to receive new members church attendance is declining slightly. Peg will look at the demographics of those who have stopped attending in hopes that may shed some light on the reason or at least provide a starting point for additional investigation.
JUDGEMENT HOUSE - Debbie has gotten information from Judgement House concerning plays that can be used as a tool to get access to the unsaved and unchurched. Debbie has gotten information on the Judgement House process and support procedures and a synopsis of each play available. She recently presented this information to the Ministerial Alliance and at least First Baptist, Hondo and St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hondo will be joining New Fountain in this endeavor. The Alliance asked that the committee select two plays for consideration and then the Alliance pastors will decide which one will be pursued.>
Funds need to be raised in support of this endeavor and a location must be selected. Preparations and rehearsals will start around the holidays with the first presentation of the play tentatively set for Sunday, 28 February, and the following Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
