The education of our children begins in the home. When families bring their children to church we have a period within the service for "Children's Time with the Ministers."

After the Children's Chat, students ages two through Eighth Grade attend separate Christen Education classes.

Two, three, four, five year olds and First Grade students receive instruction using the Children in Worship model. Higher grades use the Cokesbury curriculum.

Confirmation:

Confirmation Class is for Seventh and Eighth Graders. The classes begin in November and conclude on a Sunday in early June. At that time, confirmands "renew the solemn vows and promises" made at their baptism.

The Confirmation Curriculum is designed to meet the needs of our children and draws upon a number of texts. The backbone of the curriculum is the Mentoring Program designed to lead the confirmands on this journey. The students survey the Old Testament, seeing how God calls his people and clarifies their need for a Savior. Students examine the life of Christ and his message for the world. Next, they study the birth of the church as seen in the New Testament and then look at the Reformation and Methodism.

Confirmands work to understand our worship service, the seasons of the church calendar, the sacraments, and prayer. Taking a closer look at the Bible, these young people try to learn how they may serve Jesus Christ. In the final weeks of the class, confirmands participate in a service project.

Pastor Ed encourages participation of parents, advice from mentors, encouragement and visits from members of the congregation.
