HERSHEY AREA ATTRACTIONS

Tucked in the rolling hills of Central Pennsylvania, Hershey’s location is ideal for exciting day trips to the many cultural, historical, educational, and entertainment attractions in nearby Harrisburg, Gettysburg, and Lancaster. So, while in Hershey, stay an extra day and visit these exciting and memorable regional attractions.

Harrisburg
Hershey is only minutes away from
Harrisburg, where the classical State Capitol Building, award-winning state museum, and htheNational Civil War Museum delight thousands of visitors each day.  

Gettysburg
Just 45 minutes south, there is more Civil War history to be found at
Gettysburg Battlefield National Park, the stirring memorial to the epic 3-day battle that proved to be the turning point of the Civil War. Also home to the American Civil War Museum.

Carlisle

If you like taking home a bit of the past, Carlisle is your treasure chest.  From indoor antique shops to outdoor antique flea markets, you'll enjoy discovering the perfect souvenir to enhance your life back home.  Founded in 1751, Carlisle was G. Washington's choice for his army's first arsenal and school. At one time it was home to the nation's Native American school, of which Olympic athlete Jim Thorpe is an alumnus. Today, the area houses the U.S. Army War College.

Lancaster County
Lancaster, in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country, is a pleasant 30-minute drive from Hershey. You'll pass farms and fields where the Amish, also known as the Plain People, still live without electricity and use mule teams to plow some of the most beautiful and productive farmland in America. There is fun and adventure for the whole family, including Dutch-style food, museums, and cultural attractions.   Lancaster is also home to Dutch Wonderland Family Amusement Park. It's A Kingdom For Kids! ages 12 and under, and features over 30 kid-friendly rides, water-play for the whole family, interactive shows, and much more.

Hershey Theatre
Located in downtown

Hershey Gardens

Milton Hershey School
Founded by Milton S. Hershey in 1909 as a school for orphan boys, today the
Milton Hershey School still serves as an opportunity of a lifetime for children in financial and social need from all over America. To learn more about the story of Milton Hershey and his school, visit Founders Hall. The building is also a great architectural achievement— the largest rotunda in the western hemisphere.
