Throughout the United States, a woman is battered every 12 seconds, according to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

In San Juan County, NM, where NUMC is located, the sheriff's dept. receives more than 500 reports of domestic violence every year. The Farmington Police Dept. averages approximately 2,000 domestic violence calls per year. We always have a waiting list of women and children applying to our New Beginnings Program.
We know that without changes in either the individual or the family, abuse will be repeated from one generation to the next. NUMC offers women and children a chance for change. To do this, we need God's help through you. If you cannot participate in our Work Camp, New Beginnings, or SPiritual Life Programs, your financial support is needed.
The Women's Division of the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church sponsors us. The Women's Division owns the land and buildings and we recieve some monetary support from that agency. We must however, rely on much of our funding from private contributions, church offerings and State and Federal grants. Your financial contribution can feed a family bankrupt by the financial and spiritual trauma of domestic violence and help our program achieve it's mission.
You may sponsor families who are in a state of transition. Your contributions are tax deductible through Advance Special #58535-3.
