Worship

Come and visit us for worship any Sunday! Our Sunday Worship service begins at 9:00 a.m. Worship is followed by an informal time of fellowship with coffee and light snacks.

Sunday School is held from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for young people age 3 through high school.

An informal Contemporary Worship service is held on Sunday evenings at 7 p.m. This service features lots of praise music and a comfortable 'laid-back' atomosphere. All are invited to come as you are and worship the Lord, Jesus Christ!

First UM Church is a caring community of believers in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who strive to uphold His teachings and support each other in Christian love. Our church is open to all who desire to come to a closer understanding of Him and to fellowship with other believers.

Ministry To Children & Youth

Sunday School: Sunday School Classes are held on Sunday mornings for children age preschool through High School. Classes are held from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. where they have a time of lesson, crafts, and activity. Children are included in the life of the church through participation in worship at special times of the year and with special activities.

Vacation Bible School: Each summer First UM Church is the site of a fun and exciting Vacation Bible School. This week-long event is held in the evenings for the convenience of working families, beginning on a Sunday evening and concluding on Friday evening with a Closing Program and Family Barbeque.

Youth Ministry: First UM Church has an active Youth Group, the "Crazy Teens For Christ". These young people, from the 7 - 12th grade Youth Sunday School class, are actively involved in the life of the church through service activities and participation, and leading in worship services. They meet on Sunday mornings for Sunday School in addition to other times for activities and events.

Bible Study

Spiritual growth is achieved through the study of God's Word. Weekly Bible Studies are usually held on Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. and vary according to the seasons and subjects. Check with the church office for information regarding current studies. All are welcome to attend regardless of previous Bible knowledge or background. We are all learners in God's Kingdom!

Salvation

(Jesus said,) "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God did not send his Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it." John 3:16-17 NLT

Our Mission

Our Purpose at First United Methodist Church, is to develop an understanding of Christian discipleship and mission among adults, youth and children. To lead the church into God's plan according to Acts 1:8: (Jesus said) "You shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem (locally), and all Judea and Samaria (nationally), and to the end of the earth (worldwide)."

We strive to do this through:

· Teaching the congregation through sermons and other acts of worship, Sunday School classes, and small study groups. For we realize that all missional outreach must first be rooted in our ever-growing personal faith in Jesus.

· Encouraging the congregation to think of First Church as God's instrument to accomplish a larger ministry.

· Motivating our people to give of themselves through their prayers, their presence, their gifts, and their services in support of the Biblical mandate for the purpose of the church, to be in mission to the world. As ministers one to another, we should remember God's priceless gift of Jesus. Out of gratitude and love for God, we are then willing to make whatever sacrifices needed to fulfill this responsibility. The challenge should cause us to share the joy our faith has brought us with others.

· Keeping each other informed of both the work and the needs in the various mission fields of the Church, both home and abroad.

· Supporting not only the mission programs of First Church through giving, but also through service in the local, national and world communities. In addition, we need to encourage and support those who feel God's call into full-time Christian service.

Christian Preschool & Day Care

Loving care for children from infants through school age are part of the outreach of First UM Church. Our Little Angels’ Christian Preschool offers a preschool learning center, infant & toddler day care, and after school care Monday through Friday, year round. A dedication to Jesus Christ, caring professional child care personnel, spacious comfortable facilities, and a beautiful outdoor recreation area make Little Angels’ the choice for many of the young families of our area. Handicap Access

First UM Church provides a wheelchair lift at the church building and a ramp at the church office building. The church building also features modern, accessible, rest room facilities. Great care is given to insuring that those with handicapping conditions are welcome and included in all activities.
