The Naperville Area CROP Walk
PLACE: The Walk begins and
ends on Center Street between Benton and Franklin Streets and near First
Congregational (United Church of Christ), Center and Benton Streets;
Wesley United Methodist Church, 19 E. Franklin St.; and Community
United Methodist Church, 20 N. Center St. (Center Street is one block east of Washington St.)
PARKING:
Please use the Naperville parking deck west of the Post Office or in the
Naperville parking deck east of
Washington St. between Chicago Ave. and Jefferson Ave. (access the upper levels
of the deck from Jefferson Avenue), or
on the street east of Central Park. Please do not
park in the Regency Bank Lot (the southwest corner of Center St. and Franklin
Ave.), or on Center St.
between Benton and Franklin Avenues.
TIME: Registration begins at 1:00
p.m. The Walk starts at 1:30 p m. Plan to
arrive early.
GOALS: The Walk has a
goal of recruiting 700 walkers and
raising $72,000.
ROUTE:
Walkers may chose a route of 5 Kilometers (3.1
miles), or 1 Kilometer (.6 miles). The routes will go through residential areas of
Naperville.
The only rest stops are at the beginning and the end.. A 10 K option is also
available. Walkers are encouraged to carry their own drinking water,
in order to reduce the number of plastic bottles in landfills.
WHAT IF IT RAINS: The
Walk will take place rain or shine. Suggestions
for inclement weather from the CROP Walk Committee.

One hundred percent of the pledges raised goes toward food
distribution organizations
and to Church World Service for reducing hunger worldwide. Any
expenses for the local Walk are covered by a corporate sponsor.
